The North Star: A Memoir on Motherhood and Self-Care
If you’re here, you’ve been following my writing journey closely. Seeing this cover means so much to me. I can’t stop looking at it. Here are a few of my favorite things.
I love that the style is artistic and showing deep emotion.
The amount of color without being overwhelming is impressive.
The symbolism of walking barefoot through a forest in the rain fits really well with the book. It is taken from one of my favorite scenes.
The dark mood with a glimmer of light in the distance is perfect. And she was even able to add stars.

My goals for the cover were to have something that conveyed deep struggle and a glimmer of hope. My journey into motherhood has been wrought with coming to terms with my past, but there was always the light of my faith to guide me. Even when I found myself dealing with postpartum depression, I knew I would get out of it eventually. I wanted the cover to attract young mothers, especially those who have faith in God.
I am so grateful for Madli who was able to take my concept and bring it further than I ever could.
